Central Andes 2024

As part of the TANGO Project, I stayed a month in the Central Andes of Argentina with my research group from the University of Arizona. We crossed from the Eastern Cordillera in Salta to the Altiplano-Puna Plateau, and then south through the Sierras Pampeanas, the Frontal Cordillera near the Aconcagua and Mercedario peaks, and finally Mendoza. I collected samples from the orographic barrier to low-temperature thermochronology, and stayed a long period in the desert fighting strong winds and extreme drought studying tectonics and sedimentology with my colleagues.
