Torres del Paine lakes, Microbial Project 2018

I've been in the Torres del Paine National Park with the LAMIR team in 2017 and 2018 to study the microbial origin of lake carbonates. Those rocks have a distinct shape like a couliflower, and we wonder how much bacteria participated on the precipitation of those carbonates. We collected rocks and water for geochemistry and stable isotopes. With the Torres del Paine and and the pumas in the backgroung, it was one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had.
